I have a really awful spring cold and my head feels like a brick.
Anyone got any yummy soup recipes that are tried and tested. Or maybe any other go to foods that help you feel better when your feeling anything but??
Thanks

Ginger ale and saltines, but I guess that's more for a stomach ache. For head colds? Anything ultra spicy makes it better, just for a little while.0 -
Thanks guys. It should start to go soon... better be gone by the weekend!!!
I was thinking pho with a LOT of chilli (vietmanese penacillin) but I would have to go out to get it as any attempts by me to make that delicious broth has failed miserably *grumbles*0 -
Pho would be soooo good!0

Put some sriracha on a saltine?0

All the pho! I've been meaning to make my own homemade broth as well for that...if only it didn't take 10 hours, haha.0

Its amazing stuff. It is ridiculously hard to get perfect. I have a local pho place but I would need to bus there.
I managed to get breakfast down.
I am going to bomb my coleslaw with chilli on ya'lls advice0 -
I take about 4 quarts of spring water and bring it to a boil along with two whole chicken breasts, cut up in chunks, one small onion, huge bunch of spinach, celery, carrots, plus anything else that you like: corn, rice. I keep all these ingredients in small amounts. It's the chicken that does the trick. Spice it up with plenty of Tabasco or pepper. Something to open up those sinuses! I figure at about 150 calories for one big bowl. Guaranteed to help you get well. Better than most comfort foods which just put your weight back up there anyway. Remember that when you are ill or stressed that your body is in survival mode. Don't worry about losing weight, just stay hydrated and watch lots of movies!0

Spicy Chicken soup - 1 whole chicken, boiled in a pan along with some of the regulars like carrots, celery, celery leaves, some chile powder, parsley and salt and pepper. Boil until the chicken is done, take the chicken out, pull off the meat and put the meat back in the pot, and then if you like, you can make some quick dumplings (just make wet biscuits) and cook them for 10 minutes one side, and 10 minutes the other.
The chicken soup actually helps your body when sick (they finally researched it, and it actually does. :-) The spiciness (in ANY dish you make) will actually make your nose run, which helps when you are feeling so stuffed up. And the dumplings are just flat out comfort food.0 -
Oh yum. They both sound delicious.
Thank you!!
