I just started trying to maintain a healthy weight, again. About 10 years ago I was very heavy (about 250), and I am 5'7". I managed to get down to 180, which is about 10 pounds more than my doctor suggested. Over the last several years, I have slowly reached the 200 mark again - despite a fairly active exercise regimen. This year, my doctor chastised me & said that exercise won't keep me from gaining weight alone - I have to watch what I eat. (She also pointed out that metabolism slows down as we age. So, my first doctor's visit where I am "officially" middle aged :-) I have a stressful job & tend to eat as a crutch. My goal is to find a steady balance between work, play, and exercise. I am trying to teach myself moderation in all things...
