Dash diet

So today I went to the doctor because I'm sick, and my blood pressure came back way too high. This is the second time in two months my BP come back elevated, although the first time wasn't nearly as bad. I started reading about the dash diet, and I read that it's also a good diet for PCOS, which I also have.
Does anyone have any experience with the diet? I'm going to get a book, but I want to know a real perspective on it.

It's just the standard "healthy diet" - low sodium, high veggies, low sugar, etc. A summary of the studies are on Wikipedia:

It's fine for PCOS, but keeping carbs lower is better for PCOS, from what i've read.
By the way, exercising regularly can lower blood pressure almost as much as the DASH diet:
