eating out and at friends

So far my one difficult part of making calorie counting a lifestyle is my lifestyle where I am active with clubs and groups with dinners made by others and eating out. I know there have to be others like me, what do you do to figure calories and stay successful?

A few things help me out:
-pre log if possible. If I know where I'm going I will look up nutrition facts beforehand and log it.
-eat a small meal before. This way I will eat less out and not be as hungry.
-snacks. Keeping a protein bar, granola, a banana, or even gum on hand at all times so if I don't have time for a small meal beforehand I can munch on the way there to fill up on the good stuff before.
-use the quick add calories feature in your diary. If it's a small place without published nutrition facts then I'll usually quick add 1,000 cals. Worst case scenario if I dont eat that much it won't hurt me

Hope these help! They've kept me successful so far :) 72 days in

That has been a hurdle for me as well. I do ok when we eat at our normal spots and I can have access to the nutrition guide. What bothers me is going to more upscale restaurants that don't have a guide or being put on the spot and having to order quickly. That really thows me off my game and actually irritates me more than I ever expected. When we eat at our friends I carry my scale. They have gotten used to it.
