Coffee vs. Water

MFP says I need to drink at least 8 cups of water daily. I'm not much on plain water, but I routinely drink 10-15 cups of black no sugar coffee a day - the kind that is "lite" or half the normal caffeine level. Been doing this for years.
So does black coffee count as water intake by the nutrition gurus?

I'm interested, too. I don't drink that much coffee but I drink caffeinated drinks. I know it has a dieuretic effect so it is different. One thing I have heard is to check if your urine is light colored. Someone can describe that. If it is concentrated you are not getting enough water.0

According to Webmd:
"Coffee and tea also count in your tally. Many used to believe that they were dehydrating, but that myth has been debunked. The diuretic effect does not offset hydration."
