This is what I learned:

1. You can EAT!

2. You can eat sweets!

3. I bought a digital scale. It's amazing the difference when I weigh something in grams vs measuring cups and spoons.

4. I learned about the 5:2 diet.

5. I learned about TDEE

6. There are very supportive on here

7. There are funny people on here

8. There are rude people on here (some times for no good reason)

9. I've learned that there are great groups.

10. I have great friends

11. Most importantly, we all want the same thing and that is to look and feel good.

I blogged about this once. I should add to it

Things I have learned since joining the community

You will lose weight if you have a deficit
    Weight loss isn't linear
    Woosh!
Little changes over time add up
    This isn't a race
I probably won't be able to get away with estimating amounts
    I can do this :)

    1. It's not hard if you find ways to eat LOTS of vegetables and do so deliciously. It's a lot easier to watch your calories when you are not hungry.

    2. Don't try too hard. EXTREME anything is extreme. I found the harder I tried, the faster I got burned out. So I restrain myself when exercising and go ahead and have milk and cookies if I'm at the end of the day with a ton of extra calories.

    3. Habits are your friend, if they are good ones. Take to time to establish habits so they work toward your goals for you. Is it your habit to have a burger for lunch? Then your habit is gaining weight for you without your working on it. Is it your habit to have veggies at lunch? Then your lunch habit is helping your health and fitness goals without you working on it. :-).

    4. This lady's weight loss philosophy:

    What I've learned:

    1. What foods really fill me up and keep me feeling awesome through the day

    2. What foods I can really just be perfectly happy without

    3. What foods are really really awesome, but need to planned for..... Such as the tex-mex I shall be consuming tonight! >:)

That people are basically pearl clutchers and can't handle real life.

Amazing stories, we all struggle, we all have good days bad days, you MUST have a deficit to lose weight, 1200 calories is very filling when you CHOOSE the right foods, vegies, fruits, fish don't leave you feeling hungry. Start slow, take it easy, get tips from your MFPs, it's easy to track your foods/use the bar scanner on MFP, tracking food & exercise motivates.

That many people have not yet come to realise that it is a choice.

when your calorie tracking, it really opens your eyes as to how much one consumes in terms of calories, fats, proteins, carbs

I learned that junk food really adds up and how its really not necessary...moderation is the key

I've learned there are some very funny and smart people here.
Also, from one of those people, I learned that entire box of Kraft Mac and Cheese = 1200 calories. ;)

track everything I eat good or bad every day to the best of my ability
there are food counts for restaurant foods
sometimes you have to estimate (be realistic about this I have weighed and measured enough food that I can pretty much eye ball a 1/2 cup but when I am at home I weigh and measure everything)
don't order a 16 oz steak and lie to myself about the portion size
don't beat myself up if I go over my calories for a day - it happens move on and make better choices the next day
individual bags of cookies or chips may be more expensive but it is easier to track the nutrient values
savor what I am eating, don't just gulp it down

last but not least THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!!!!!
