Hi all. I need to lose 20lbs as fast as possible. I have been doing light exercising, cutting out certain foods etc. What else can I do? Who has lost 20lbs fast and how?

The answer and question are very relative... The lower your starting weight, the harder it will be to lose. Also, depends on your definition of "fast"
Although, in general, research has shown that people on low-carb diets lose weight faster than people on low-fat diets. So try Keto/Atkins/low-carb0 -

That's a prescription for failure in the long run.
Anyway, just crash diet as best you can and you'll lose 20 pounds fast. You'll lose muscle and your metabolism will be stifled a bit. And when you gain the weight back, you'll gain some extra and then need to lose 25 pounds.
GOOD LUCK!

The fastest you'll be able to lose it healthily is ten weeks (2 pounds per week), but that's only if you have more than 75 pounds to lose overall. Anything quicker, especially at a lower weight, is bound to cause problems and bring the weight back the moment you return to how you were eating before.0

what's the rush?0

I don't know if it will help you lose weight "fast," but by drinking a lot of water, your skin will perk up, your body will flush out toxins and your eliminations will be more comfortable. All of which will make you look better almost immediately.0

Your best bet is to go heavier on the protein & cut out sugar & carb where you can -- the Keto/Atkins/low-carb as suggested above. Paleo could also help you. Not sure what your eating habits are now, but try to eat small meals throughout the day, & move it! Keep tracking food in & calories out0

This is a generic "halp meh lose weight fast" thread. By all means, do it like most others in your situation do it; crash diet, lose a couple of pounds of muscle, a little bit of fat and *kitten* up you metabolism, then give in to cravings a gain it all back, and then some.
Don't half a*s it.0 -
With 28 lbs on your ticker, expect a 1 lb a week loss for about 2 months, then anywhere from 0.5-1 lb per week loss after that. Realistically, you're looking at probably around 4 months at least, because the last pounds are going to depend on very meticulous logging and it's easy to mess that up.0

I too would like to know what qualifies as "fast". If you only have 28 lbs to lose total (as in you are only 28 pounds over your ideal weight) then anything that you would likely consider "fast" is going to be harmful to your health.
If you are morbidly or severely obese you can do it faster.
So the fastest way I'd say is to gain about 120 pounds, then try to lose 20. Cause that's how I lost it "fast". Can't say I'd recommend that process though.
If you use MFP as it was designed it will walk you through the steps of the best way to relatively painlessly lose the weight, not destroy your body in the process and be more likely to not look like a sack of deflated potatoes at the end and keep the weight off.0 -
Yes, what do you consider "fast", and why is it so important to lose it quickly?
Crash dieting will probably result in fast weight loss, but a lot of that weight will be water, and depending on how large your deficit is and how long you diet for, you may lose some muscle as well. And regardless of how you reach your goal weight, maintaining your ideal weight still requires that you eat differently than you did to gain your weight... forever.
If you really want to lose fat and lower your body fat percentage overall, then you'll want to invest some time in losing your weight in a healthy and sustainable way.0 -
I started on my journey, 2 weeks ago omitting breads/pasta/sugars only eating fruits/vegetables/seafood. Also walking 5 miles daily and drinking only water.. I feel so much better , the scales say -8 lbs pleasantly surprised. 4 sisters have had gastric/bypass so i am more than motivated to change eating habits and live healthy.0

You have to begin your journey very obese if you want to drop 20 really fast. If you're only 20 overweight, "fast" isn't really an option.
But good luck.0 -
The fastest way I know is to amputate a limb. Assuming you are not willing to do that I would suggest doing it the right way.
Like the others have mentioned slow and steady wins this race. Invest in a food scale and start logging your food. Find some fitness activity you can tolerate and get on it. I guarantee the results you get will be well worth effort you put into it, ten fold.
Take care of your body, it is the only place you have to live.0 -
