So I have extra time on my hands and since I love reading so much I figured I'd read some books. Suggestions on any good books. I love reading romance but open to other suggestions. Currently reading Beautiful Disaster

@drop_it_like Any book worth reading. I was reading a fitness book by Bob Harper, I forgot the name of the book, but it was a good book. A lot of good advice.

The last book I read (and liked!) was Humble Pie from Gordon Ramsay.
I imagine you'd have to be interested in him, positively or negatively, to wanna read it though.
That's an autobiography though, no romance! haha

@khall86790 I just read a brief summary about Gone Girl and it sounds like a really interesting book. I'm definitely going to add that to my list. Thanks.
  • I recently read "Veronika Decides to Die" by Paulo Coelho.

    It was great.

But a bit dark and not really romantic at all...

Lisa gardner and Lisa jackson are both pretty comparable writers; i've been working in a bookstore basically for the last 6 years so I am lucky enough to feed my reading addiction. They both are very good with their murder/mystery with AMAZING love stories mixed in. I'd give it a try just for somethin a lil different. I have the book youre reading though Beautiful Disaster, I haven't read it yet though I have the advance from before it came out

Heather Gudenkauf's she's awesome she has three books... Beautiful lies by Lisa Unger is a good book too... and Room by Emma Donoghue. . that ones intense and if you read it and like it i'd recommend Chevy Stevens next her first book was insanely good. Jennifer McMahon is good too... i'm probably spelling the name wrong.

I just read both Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster (book 2 in her series). I LOVED it! I am currently re-reading The Great Gatsby since I read it over 20 years ago for school and since the movie came out, I want to read it before I see the movie!!

I enjoy reading about other people's world view and experiences that are outside of my own. I am reading Lalita Tademy's,"Cane River," about four generations of African American women. I recently finished, "In the Garden of Beasts," by Erik Larson. It is based upon the communiques of the American Ambassador to Berlin during the 1930's. Larson's novel, "The Devil in the White City," was also a good read. "The Smartest Guys in the Room -- the Amazing Rise and Scandalous Fall of ENRON," by Bethany McLean was great.

Of those if you are looking for a beach or airport book I'd recommend, "The Devil in the White City."
  • I'm currently reviewing an advance copy of "The First Rule Of Swimming" by Courtney Angela Brkic which will be released May 28th. It's a wonderful story of two sisters and the tragedy that occurs when one goes missing. Takes place between a small Croatian Island and New York.

Might have to check out one of these when I'm done w/the current. Sounds intriguing.

LoniB -- I had seen you were reading, "Gang Leader for a Day." A friend of mine is reading that too and highly recommends it.
