Just getting started.

Hello, All. I'm a woman in her 50's with about 80 pounds I'm planning on misplacing over the course of the next year or so. I've lost weight before. Even been thin twice  Never been this heavy and it's time to turn the Titanic. I'm preparing for a 500 mile walk on the Camino de Santiago in Spain next fall (if I can manage the financial piece) and being in shape is going to be a big help.

Good for you for taking action to turn things around!

2 questions for you. What would you attribute the 80-pound gain to? and What is your plan for attacking those 80 pounds?

I'm self-employed in a sedentary business model and have been since 2006. Put on 60 pounds over those 8 years. Single mom of two kids. My exercise program fell away, I hit menopause, and stressed my way through the recession. It's still hand to mouth here. It's not a matter of eating a lot of junk. I already have a diet focused on whole foods. It's more a matter of portions and not enough movement to counter balance it. Well, I also get home after 10 two nights a week and have ended up eating dinner then. That doesn't help. So, I'm counting calories and starting a walking program. Once I've got that solidly in place, I'll hit the gym for additional cardio and weight training. It's worked before, it just takes focus. And patience. Thanks for asking!
