It varies wildly. No method of estimating calories burned is 100% accurate, but the best way (at least for "steady state cardio" like running or swimming) is to use a heart rate monitor.0

It is an estimate as everyone burns differently and as said above, you have to be honest with yourself based on what you are doing. I only use the cardio if I am actually exercising, as I have used the ones for cooking/food preparation, and there is no way I burn as much as mfp says when Im in the kitchen for hours preparing a big meal for the family (unfortunately!!).0
