how accurate is the estimate mfp gives you for calories burned in exercise?

    It's close but not 100% in my case, so I had to tweak my numbers based on trial and error. Others report differently.
    You need to just be honest with yourself based on what is working. The end conclusion are our results. Are you reaching your goals?

    It varies wildly. No method of estimating calories burned is 100% accurate, but the best way (at least for "steady state cardio" like running or swimming) is to use a heart rate monitor.

    It is an estimate as everyone burns differently and as said above, you have to be honest with yourself based on what you are doing. I only use the cardio if I am actually exercising, as I have used the ones for cooking/food preparation, and there is no way I burn as much as mfp says when Im in the kitchen for hours preparing a big meal for the family (unfortunately!!).
