Knee injury

Hello
I have a little problem and was just wondering if anyone of you has some tips for me.
I'm going running for years but somehow I always have some weeks when I just quit, have no motivation, you maybe know that
It was like this last spring so I didn't run very often for quite a while and then restarted probably a bit too motivated and as it had to come - I injured my knee. I have seen an orthopaedic specialist but she couldn't tell me a lot, just that my knees are too flexible and that's why they are not so strong or something
I was supposed to wear a bandage for a while and she said I could restart running when it doesn't hurt anymore.
So that was already quite some time ago and I have the feeling it doesn't get really better. It does a little and some days it doesn't hurt at all but when I wear any shoes but sneakers for a few hours it starts hurting again. I will go to the orthopaedic as soon as I can, but earliest in january because I am abroad at the moment.
So I see it's an injury and it just needs time and I can't do anything about it and I'm not trying to ask for medical advice in a forum, I was just wondering if someone maybe had this problem as well and has some tips what you can do to support your knee. I think I will try to just go for longer walks regularly and maybe there are some exercises for the legs that could be helpful?
I don't know what other exercise you can do with an injured knee, as the knee is like always used, also in swimming and so on.. also I'm abroad in a very expensive city for the next two months and won't subscribe to gym or so (also I don't like gym).
So actually I'm just looking for some exercise tips you could do in the park or at home that strengthen your legs and support your knee so I can prepare to be able to start running again in a few weeks. I think I got injured because I was quite fit and able to run for an hour without stopping, but had no muscles because of the long break.
So thanks for reading and I hope you can help me - I just love running and I'm feeling soo bad not doing it for such a long time!

depends on the injury. i have torn tendons, and i wear tight knee sleeves when i workout. i don't jog much but when i do, i only use the treadmill so its smooth and consistent and no twisting or turning pressure on my knee. The knee sleeves help immensely when i lift, also strengthening all the muscles in my legs has help with my knee issues.0
