Isn't it weird how...

Some times it's like wow this is simple, eat nutritiously and create a deficit and move your *kitten* a bit more, calories in and calories out etc. and you're on a roll, 7 Ibs come off nicely over a few weeks. And you think jeez how did I let myself get fat, it's not rocket science, I love this lifestyle, I LOVE working out, this feels good. You know when you feel guilty if you miss a day's exercise?

THEN boom. You've got to eat that choccy bar. You're fantasising about a comforting roast dinner followed by jam rolly polly and custard. A walk seems a challenge never mind a run because your bum is just loving the sofa right now. This can last a few days, maybe a few weeks and starting again seems so hard. But when you do you feel amazing again.

I've learnt that you're going to have these days and you can't be perfect 100% of the time... And it's why I love 'refeed'/cheat days once a fortnight after going strict...for your metabolism and psychologically. Just trying to limit it to one day off now to stay on track!

I'm sure I'm not alone with this struggle!

I don't do this with exercise, as I have a new found love for it, but with food, I agree.

This time around I would include treats into my daily calorie allowance and have an occasional cheat day. Whereas in the past I would deprive myself such foods, then binge, feel guilty and give up, I now just carry on.

I know this way of doing things is horrifying for some, but it worked (works) for me.

Good luck with your final 6 lb.

Definitely not alone. I eat within my calories and workout hard 6 days a week. Anywhere between 2 and 4 times a month, a meal plus dessert of whatever I want. I've exceeded 5000 calories on those days. Helps keep you sane for sure. I'm less than 10 pounds to goal.

Sounds like you both have the right approach...everything in moderation! Oh I wish I just had 6 pounds to go, that's my small goal for my holiday in 3 weeks. 30 down but at least 30 to go! Can defo relate to the bingeing and giving up...that's what happens when you expect a perfect diet, this is life!

You're speaking my language! I also choose 1-2 days a month to go nuts, and I log every bit. However, I often choose self control over that chocolate bar if it isn't one of THOSE days. ;P

Logging your cheat days can be a good idea, encourages you indulge without bingeing. Sometimes though I simply want a day off from logging and thinking about health and fitness!

Just to add, I also log my cheats, every bit. I'm not ashamed of them. I'm human. I love food way too much. :)
