40 years old and 30 lbs to lose

Hi everyone!
I'm a 40 year old woman living in Kansas. I am married and have a teenage daughter.
I'm new to this site but not new to trying to lose weight and get in shape. I'm 5'4" and weigh 179 lbs. I've been stuck at my current weight for a couple of years. I put on about 45lbs after my dd was born. I've tried various things to lose weight over the past 14 years and really had a lot of self- hatred for awhile. These days I am much more positive and at peace with myself no matter what the number on the scale. I'd still like to lose around 30lbs. :#

Right now, I plan to focus on keeping active on a consistant basis and eating more fruits and vegetables.
Almost everything I love to do is pretty inactive so keeping my activity level up is my biggest challenge. I don't want to run a marathon or anything too grand. I hate that when I walk with my dh it is a huge effort to keep up or when I climb a couple of flights of stairs I am almost out of breath. I hate that I am not more flexible. My main exercises will probably be walking, dancing or pilates.
I like vegetables and fruits and yet still do not eat enough. The majority of my meals are prepared and eaten at home so it shouldn't be difficult to change that.

I look forward to getting to know others on this site who may share similar goals.

Welcome, I'm Steve. I think you are on the right track. It is truly about making a lifestyle change. It was for me. I have lost over 100 pounds since January. I also couldn't have done it without the support of my wife and friends. If you need help with motivation, support, advice, or want to chat about my journey feel free to message me. I have been in your shoes and want to pay it forward.

    Steve

  • Hey, sent you a FR. I want to lose the same 30. You have a good outlook. I too have a hard time being active. It's a challenge. Let's support each other!

:D Hi Loumoun! Welcome to MFP. As with anything exercise is hard to get started but as you work at it it will become easier! For me exercise is not the problem...I love food! So needless to say I have been pretty much stuck at the same weight for many years. Maybe we can motivate each other!

    Friend request sent!

    Thanks for the friend requests!

I love food too. I'm tracking what I eat and am pretty close to all my set ranges so far. I did have to tell myself no more snacks last night and I made it until breakfast.
