Heart Rate Monitor Suggestions

Can anyone recommend a good heart rate monitor? Are any of those bracelet/watch style ones good, like the Jawbone Up? Though I realize that one doesn't have an HRM built any. I have the Up and I love it but I feel like I need an HRM to get the most accurate information on my workouts. Am I right about that?
Thank you for your help. I'm really new to this.

Go for a basic watch/strap combo for beginner level training. Of course, the more features you want, the more you will pay. Really all you need is the ability to track your average heart rate over time, and maybe an alert if your HR goes too high or too low. After that, time spent in at least one zone. Make sure it has user adjustable training zones, and you will probably want one where you can change the batteries (on both the watch and the strap).
If you are into advanced training, a bluetooth HRM may work better as it can provide you with detailed information about your workout for relatively low cost. Of course, it's a GIANT pita to try to check your heart rate while jogging down the road.0 -
The Mio Alpha is great as long as it's paired with an app on your phone/tablet. (I use Digifit)
Big downside is the cost.

I'm in LOVE with my Polar FT4. Comes with a chest strap for better accuracy, and the bluetooth also connects with machines, so I can check my heart rate on the treadmill rather than trying to read the numbers on my wrist while I run.0

polar loop with a h7 strap is boss!!
but if youre a beginner, maybe go for something like ashley said, as its abit cheaper0 -
I have a Polar FT4 as well. It's pretty basic, but it gets the job done. I can't remember exactly how much I paid, but I bought it on Amazon for a pretty decent price ($60-70 USD).0

I've got a Mio Link, it's just the wrist strap, has lights which flash different colours to let you know where your heart rate's at, you set these in their app. I really like it as it's so easy to just put that on, turn it on and go, it has bluetooth so can link to a phone to log your HR as you go.
The only problems with it are that the companies app is a bit naff, but it can still be use with other apps, and the light telling you what training zone you're in can be a bit hard to catch on a flash.
