Body Measurements, what do you think is ideal?

Hey guys, so I was wondering, what do you guys think are ideal body measurements for a women, I know the hourglass figure is appreciated so most people say equal bust and hip measurements and then 10 inches smaller for the waist. My measurements are 40-30-40 and I'm 5'7" I wear like a 12/14 dress to accomodate my bust (DD) but a medium or around size 8-10 pants. What do you think the best measurements are?

There are no 'best' measurements. The best measurement is being healthy and the best person you can be.

I asked a guy this same question and he looked at me like I was crazy. He had no idea about "ideal" measurements.

I've come to terms with my pear shape and realize I can't chose my new measurements. I'll just work hard until I'm at my ideal weight and hopefully my thighs and butt will be in shape from my endless squats!

    (I'm 36/35/42 down from 40/40/47!)

Ideal measurements are the ones you rock the *kitten* out of. End of story. :-)

I was asking about your personal preference so that can be for you or in general whatever you think is best

Are you sure? Your hips look smaller.

Supposedly they're like 35-22-35 which was what Marilyn Monroe was in her heyday.

But those aren't ideal for me because I think my ribs alone are more than 22 inches. For me...I'd say 39-28-38. That's when I (personally) feel best. But I'm just me and not every woman. I'm also a bit taller than average.

Just be the best version of yourself...and forget measurements unless you're tracking body fat. For women, between 20 and 25% is a good number.

Agreed, I'd get a cloth measuring tape from any drug store to be accurate. :#

There are different standards of beauty that would set different ideals. You might find your ideal in what you see in magazines, or you might find yourself feeling most sexy in what's colloquially called a "Hip-hop thick" body. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder is what I'm saying -I just hope that beholder is you, and not someone you feel you have to impress.

I'm 39-28-39 and hoping to shave at least four inches off my waist and a few from my hips, since they're so chunky. But I'm much shorter than you--your measurements sound great and if you're happy with them, they're the right ones for you.

Well hips measuring around my butt too, my hips not my butt is smaller but I was including butt, I do use a cloth measuring tape and that's what it said, I agree it looks smaller but measuring tape doesn't lie, I have a "perky" butt I guess, when I don't work out I definitely have smaller hips than busy but no matter how much I work out or don't my back and bust is broad

What I find the most aesthetically pleasing? Hour glasses and pears. Especially pears. I might be biased because I am a pear, albeit a small one.

Confidence and attitude go a lot further than measurements in my opinion.
