Long Term Goals

I am actually not new here. I can't remember when I originally started but I have started and stopped a few times.
But now I am slowing down a bit. I know from trial and error that I can't just jump all in. When I do I just can't stick with it.
I know have a new goal..... I have made a cruise reservation for November 2015. Between now and then I would like to lose 50 pounds.... That's just over a year.
Do you think this is possible? Looking for friends that are looking to lose at a similar pace, or have already lost this much at a similar pace.
