Hey all!
I'm trying to find a tasty, but low calorie (and low sodium) recipe for pork chops as a main dish. Will probably be serving with brown rice and asparagus.
Anyone got a recipe they don't mind sharing?
Thanks a bunch

There are 2 chefs in the UK called the Hairy Dieters who have a recipe for spicy pork and rice which is really nice - i'm sure you could adapt it to include the chops brown rice and asparagus! Enjoy!

You could try this recipe with low sodium chicken broth and season the pork as you like. I would cook the asparagus separately. I think the cooking time would be way too long for them.0 -
Replace pork with chicken, instantly lower calorie.0

I submitted this one a couple years ago to allrecipes.com. I think I got it from weight watchers many, many years ago. It's very good - and easy too

I'd pan sear the chop in an oven safe dish to medium rare, then remove to a plate. Deglaze the pan with some stock and add Mrs. Dash garlic and herb, black pepper and poultry seasoning and the rice and cook until the rice it al dente. Chop and stir in the asparagus. Add the chops back on top of the rice and kind of shove them down in a bit. Then bake the whole thing until the pork chops are to temp.
Or grill the chops, saute the asparagus in olive oil and garlic, and cook the rice as directed on the package.0 -
this one is great! I made it last night. If you don't want to BBQ, pan-sear the chops 2 min/side on a cast iron pan, then move it into the oven to finish it off

How thick are the pork chops? If thick cut - I prefer to grill them with whatever your favorite spice blend is. You can grill the asparagus also - less clean up. If thin, then I usually cook them in a skillet with some herbs, garlic and either white wine or chicken broth so they don't dry out and get over cooked.0

Speak of the devil...! I just got this recipe yesterday (Spiced Pork Tenderloin with Sautéed Apples) and it sounds DELICIOUS! (and I'm not even that big of a pork fan) I confess I haven't made it yet, but I plan to try it out on my sister and BiL next weekend. It got great reviews, has all of the nutrients listed, and it's already in the MFP database (I checked) Good luck!

Stop it. This is your recipe!? I make this allll the time.0 -
Pan sear chops, then remove from pan and deglaze with 1/2 cup good balsamic, TBS honey, and some dried Rosemary. Put chops back into pan and let cook, flipping often, until glaze has thickened and chops are done. Very good!!0

Place the chops in a slow cooker and cover with your favorite BBQ sauce. Cook on low for 4-6 hours or until done (it's best to use a meat thermometer). The sauce doesn't add a lot of calories, so it's mostly just the pork.0

I like to buy a boneless pork loin and trim off all of the visible exterior fat. At this point most all pork loins you can buy come from lean pigs, so there is not really much fat at all inside a boneless trimmed loin chop. You save a bunch of money, can cut them to your desired portion size, and they are friggin delicious! Cook however you like.
I even grind some up and make my own lean breakfast sausage. It's less fat and tastier than that turkey sausage junk.0 -
Grill , broil, or bake pork chops. I put real crushed garlic, a couple of shakes of worshirster sauce & ground pepper on them while cooking. When cooked put into pan on stove & cover with 1 tin of low-fat mushroom soup & 1/2 can of water & simmer until warmed throughly. Remove pork chops & pour soup mixture into gravy boat. Serve over rice & add a vegetable to the dinner like broccoli, asparagus, cauliflour, green beans, etc.0

Brown pork chops in a heavy skillet; then one potato-sliced, a can of sauerkraut-rinsed, then an apple-sliced thin, add a cup of low sodium veggie broth, cover and simmer until the apple slices "melt" into the sauerkraut. So yum! (and I am NOT really a kraut fan, but rinsed well with the sweetness of the melted apple, it's so NICE!)0
