Can´t get motivated to exercise?

Ive been for a few months(or longer) trying to get motivated to exercise, but so far it has been impossible for me no matter what, Ive been trying start the exercise video called "Insanity" but.. i did it like twice and never again.. I´m under so much pressure from school since I have a hard time learning (adhd/add etc) , and in a really bad depression like usual, ... I´ve dreamt of wanting to go into fitness.. but How can i when i can´t even start exercising? help :( ?
I have a slow thyroid so since im not exercising im gaining weight...

I´ve also been so scared and disgusted of food and under so much stress recently that Im only eating like.. 1 meal size total each day, and only sleeping like 4 hours.. or less
I want to get in shape so bad especially since when I do, I will allow myself to go back to judo :)
So What did/do you do to get yourself motivated?

This probably isn't much help but I just do it anyways. I don't always want to work out but I make myself do it anyways.

I guess the one big thing that helps me is walking. I might not want to but I make myself walk (outside, not a treadmill) for at least 10 minutes. After that 10 minutes has passed, I can turn around and head home but I'm now forced to walk another 10 minutes just to get home. Usually after the second 10 minutes pass, I want to go for another

ETA: It sounds like exercise isn't really your biggest problem right now. You may want to get proffesional help with your other issues first. Not trying to be rude.

just breathe and go easier on yourself. its a vicious cycle we want *this* then put pressure on ourselves to do it and the pressure then prevents us from actually doing it in the first place!

exercise is hard for me to so I'm trying to do things that i enjoy like i love power walking outside so i do that twice a week for an hour.

you won't stick to something if you don't like it. an exercise video sounds miserable to me, try an activity what about a aerobics class like zumba, or bike riding, racket ball? dance class? walking with a friend? do you like sports? try one of those?

it wasn't so much about being motivated because thats fleeting but just doing something i enjoy

sometimes when you lose a little weight first the exercise is a natural follow-up. maybe lose a little with watching what you eat and that may spark your interest more in exercise

Baby steps.....instead of Insanity or something else really aggressive, try adding small doses or exercise. Get used to "scheduling" a short workout. Meet those short workout goals on a regular basis. Then add start adding longer workouts. You can keep a calendar of workout goals. Make it visible.

Meeting shorter (more obtainable) goals will 1.) Make workouts a "regular" thing. Just part of the average day 2.) Will ease you into fitness. Going too hard too soon can lead to injury. This only sets you back further. 3.) Lessen the "but I have a good excuse" days. Shorter workouts are easier to fit into busy days. I've been there, done that.

Try all kinds of different workouts. YouTube is great for finding something you might not have tried before. Finding something you like to do (Judo) is half the battle.
  • I agree with some of the above posters that baby steps are good. And you don't have to schedule anything big. Sometimes when I feel unmotivated, I go walk around the mall for awhile or I decide to clear my apartment with intensity. It's not always about hardcore exercise, it's about being active. That will lead to a place where maybe you want to exercise.

You can get fit with or without motivation. Dont fall into the trap of believing it is necessary. It isn't, just like the spoonful of sugar with your medicine isn't necessary. You grow out of it as you learn self-discipline and momentum and your desire to keep going solidifies. Then, after a couple years like this, those moments when you are motivated - it's just a fun treat. like oooooh fun! hahaha - then back to normal.

Do you have stationary bikes with book racks at your school? Two birds one stone. Some studies found that students with ADHD did better if exercising or sitting on a stability ball while reading .
