Newbie, becoming aware

To introduce myself, I'm a retiree and now have the time to arrest a long skid into obesity. I have a lot to lose, and I wanted to make a start. I did an Internet search and determined that MFP was the best fit for me. No pun intended.

I began on Oct. 3rd and have already lost 5 lbs. My main purpose was to end denial and find a way to focus on where I'm going wrong. It's too easy to ignore doing badly if I'm not accountable to someone, so I was searching for an easy way to end the excuses. I needed an easy way because if something is hard to do, it's far too tempting to stop doing it. I can't say I'm being perfect, but I'm able to target specific problems (like the TV dinner that used up nearly all my sodium allotment for the day!), and obviously it's working!
