Over 55 and finally realize.....

I do believe that age plays a huge role in our fitness levels and weight. Menopause and the changes that comes with it; lower hormones, lack of sleep, etc....really did surprise the heck out of me..."Oh that won't happen to me!" Even though my weight did not creep up much I felt a huge shift in my ability to work out. I went from running 10-12 miles every single day to barely being able to run one. I am slowly crawling out of the funk but I have to constantly remind myself I am no longer 40! : ) Any other middle aged women feel my pain? I absolutely love being a Grandma to 5; but I truly love when people say I don't look like one! : )

I'm only 46 and I can tell you, although my stamina is fantastic, its DEFINITELY harder to lose now! Had I done this 10 years ago, it would be a breeze, but I work for every pound lost. I work even harder for every muscle I will gain.

The adjusting process is not easy I find at 63. While I am feeling better than at 43 the arthritis has left me almost no movement in my spine and limited range of motion in the rest of my body. Keeping from hurting myself from falling is my big chore and that takes a lot of self talk. I love being on the backhoe, tractor and hauling with the big truck but being stiff as a poke if I hang my foot on a root, corn stalk or step in a low place I can fall. If I would just use a cane it would help.

Remembering to enjoy the family more than physical activities is a good idea I need to do more of myself. Our kids just turned 17 so people guess me to be young than I am. :)
