Does MFP re-adjust calories?

Hi all. I know that as we get older we require less calories to live. (Not a whole lot less but probably enough to make a difference over time)

I was wondering if MFP automatically updates your calorie goals as you age (since they asked for your birthday) or if you need to re-adjust it yourself?

The reason I'm asking is because I've gotten used to logging so much I hardly ever check anymore to see how many I've been alloted. I just check my net amount with a split-seconds worth of attention to make sure I'm in the green. With this habit, I might gain overtime if not careful as I do plan on logging for the next...oh 60 more years?? Maybe 100 more years  hehe

You have to readjust yourself. It will suggest you might want to recalculate. That is up to you though. If you are still maintaining or losing then I would say leave it alone if that is what you want.

I'm not sure but I know that calorie requirements are expected to only decline 100 calories every 10 years. And that can be counteracted with exercise and maintaining or building lean mass.

What I'd recommend for everyone regardless of age is that you monitor your progress and adjust as needed. If you find you're gaining a bit over time (not normal fluctuations) then lower your goal slightly. If you find you're losing (and don't want to) then add calories.
