Determined to reach my goal

Good morning. I joined MyFitnessPal about a year ago. I went back and forth with following a program I designed for myself. I just wasn't ready. For many reasons that has changed and I am now. My goal is to eat healthier and be more active. I had a back injury and I stopped working out. I used to swim, run, bike, do yoga, and free weights. I have modified that a bit so that I don't reinjure myself and I take care of my body. I plan to really stick to eating healthier, swimming, elliptical, walk/runs, yoga, pilates and Julian Michaels 30 Day Shred. I think the only thing that I know I need to change in my plan that I have now is my meal plan. It is very repetitive and I need to mix up my menu or I will get bored.
My goal is a little aggressive, 2 pounds per week, but I only plan to do that for 5 weeks then I want to maintain between the holidays and continue to build muscle. If anyone cares to join me so we can support one another let me know. Good luck to everyone on here!

hello .. I just started MyFitnessPal for like a week now but I started living healthy for 1 year already. I lost a total of 25 kls for 5 months and now I'm maintaining my weight of 50kls.. But because I am too confident that I can get back to the track I stopped my daily routine and I ate what I want for one month. Now I gained 5kls for one month. I tried to lose but now I find it difficult not like the first time I had my diet.. I'm doing Zumba once a week , I jog , I need to lose..i hope we can make it together..Good luck..0

It says on your ticker you only have 7lb to lose, so 2lb a week for 5 weeks does seem aggressive. The MFP suggestion would be a target of .5lb a week as its harder to lose the last bits of weight.
You may be able to do it, but be careful imo that your enthusiasm, determination and what you were previously able to manage dont drive you on to injure yourself or overdo it. Perhaps consider joining one of the recipe swap groups?
Will those activities help you build muscle?0 -
Good luck Butterflykisses! I have done the same thing before throughout my life so can appreciate where you are at. It is a good reminder that if we are going to make a change it needs to be a lifelong lifestyle change.
Hi 999tigger, I should go in and check my goals again. I haven't changed them yet. I have gained more since I originally plugged those in. I understand what you are saying about being too aggressive and possibly burning out. However, my personality does best with aggressive goal in all areas of my life. If I am allowed to slack I will. If I am not allowed to slack then I stick to it. It isnt for everyone so I dont suggest they do what I do. However, I agree that it is going to be a challenge and I could change it to 1 pound per week. I do want to make a change for life. Whatever I decide will be more aggressive for the first month to kick start my discipline. In terms of injury, I have not been seditary for the last year. I have already started to workout so it will not be a shock to my body and joints. I have moved from the days of crossfit, bootcamp or running to walking, elliptical, swimming, yoga and pilates to prevent injury. I will add in a walk/run when I want something a little more. I pay close attention to my body because of my back and I stretch a great deal. In terms of weights and gaining muscle, Jillian Michaels will help me at least start the muscle gain again. I know it isn't perfect but I don't like to be out on a gym floor when I haven't worked out in a while. If that was the case then I wouldn't do it at all. I either need a trainer or something that I can follow. So I picked her program to do at home for 30 days to get myself started and to learn the exercises again. Once I am feeling confident and I know the weights I should be working with I will continue at my gym with a regular routine to build muscle. Thanks so much for the help and great reminders.0 -

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
