NSV: Crushed my Half-marathon goal

I began a run/walk program a year ago. I could barely jog for 30 seconds. I trained with my Galloway group for a half marathon, which I ran this past March. Our overall finishing pace was 17 min/mile. Our time was 3:34:46. Pretty darn slow, but I was so proud that I finished!

Fast forward to yesterday: I had a goal to improve my time to under 3 hours, but I wasn't sure if I could do it! I have been training hard, consistently, and felt good on race day. I came in at 2:45:37. I was sobbing when I crossed that finish line...I felt so much stronger than I ever knew possible. My pace improved to 12:29/mile, and I sliced 49 minutes off my overall time. I have lost over 40 pounds, and I am still going.

Don't think you can't. YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS! If a fat stay-at-home homeschool mom can do it, so can you!

Congratulations Rachel, awesome feeling isn't it?

I went for a run on Friday, and after 10km I decided I was just gonna keep going, as I felt so good. Just over an hour later I completed 21.1km in 1:59:54. My first sub-2hr half marathon distance, beating my previous best by over 15 minutes. As you said, anything, and I mean ANYTHING is possible if you want it enough. Just wish my wife wasn't having an operation in a few days that will see her having to stop running for 6-8 weeks, as I was going to try and build her up to half marathon distance for Sheffield in April. Never mind, there will be other events.

Once again, very very well done. Keep it up!
