I have just started Week 3 of C25K and its a killer. That 3 min jog, my calf muscles are burning so much and I feel my knees packing up. I warm up beforehand and I push through it but I honestly can't see myself working up to that 9 week jog for 5km! Perhaps my pace is too fast. What speed does everyone usually do? I find myself jogging at 7k/hr and walking at a fast pace 5 to 5.5k. My heart rate peaks around 80-85 and goes down to 70 through the walk. I also do it on a treadmill.

Don't worry about the speed. The idea is that you can keep a conversational pace. If the week is tough, keep doing it until you can do it comfortably then move on. It took me almost 6months to complete the C25K program. But I did it and worked up to running 8 miles at once.

Keep with it and keep strong. 80-85bpm is not that high. Most of my running is the the 140's bpm (beats per minute). If it is your legs that are giving you trouble. Try ready up on running form. There is a ton of info out there; ChiRunning, Pose method, Jeff Galloway method... Try to find something that will work for you.

    Good Luck.
