BMR and TDEE help!!!

hey ya'll

need some help understanding these numbers and what exactly to do with them....

if i calculated correctly off the scooby website, mine are as follows: BMR - 1478 calories TDEE - 2291 calories and my CUT calories are 1947.

if i understand it right, i should be eating a NET calorie count of my BMR everyday....is that right?

i would say i am moderately active....i workout 4-5 days a week for 35-60 min each time and i am chasing after a 2 year old all day and keeping house. :)

i am new to trying to follow these numbers and i am actually trying to rev up my metabolism since i believe i have damaged it somewhat.

the calorie difference between my cut number and bmr number is 369 so i read that when i workout, if i burn more than the 369 calories i need to eat back the difference to make sure i hit my bmr #.

am i understanding this right?

also, today is the first day i am trying to reach that calorie goal and i am only at a net count of about 830 calories and i already have my dinner logged for the day and i honestly don't know where i am going to get 600 more calories.....help!!!!

i only need to lose about 5 -10 more pounds. i have already lost 75 and have maintained it for about 5 months, but the last couple months have been unsuccessful at losing anymore weight....

thanks for any input!!

If you are using TDEE, then the exercise is already included, so you don't record it. If you are using MFP, you record your exercise and eat back half (gives rooms for miscalculations in both burns and logging).

No, you need to eat to the 1947, and following TDEE, exercise calories are already included. Make sure you're accurately weighing and logging your food as well, since you don't have much to lose.

ok....i am confused then.....what i read said to put my cut number in mfp as my total calories for the day...that number is the 1947 and then to log my food and on workout days to eat enough calories to have a net calorie count of 1478....which is my BMR number.

if that isn't right can someone shed some light on this please??????

Hi Dayner - have you been reading EM2WL? If so - what you said is what they tell you to do.

I can't tell you if it works - if that's what you are asking - I couldn't get my head round not eating back exercise calories (I know they are included already) and I over ate - had to knock it on the head after just a few days before I ballooned!

But yes - that's the way EM2WL works.
