How to lose body fat?

Hi there,
I am so discouraged as I got on the scale after overeating the last two days and saw a five pound increase. I am sure it is not REAL gain, but I am just so mad at myself and upset. I am recommitting right NOW to a healthier lifestyle. I am about to write a blog about it, so feel free to friend request me, read it, etc. But right now, I have a question on the ways in which to lose fat the fastest. I am wondering in regards to weight training and cardio.
I have been doing cardio about 5 times a week for about 30 minutes. I also have been lifting weights about 3 times a week. I am wanting to lose the last ten pounds, and I can stand to lose them. I still have a larger percent body fat. Here is my question... What is the most effective way to do so?
Thanks!

I'm going to third this.
I've done very little in terms of actual exercise, save for very sporadic walking/jogging, and I'm down 18 pounds. DH and I are going to invest in free weights for home in the near future and at that point I'll begin lifting.0 -
I cant get my head around this caloric deficit = weight loss, can someone please help a noob out with an explanation?0
