TDEE -20%

I have lost almost 25lbs as of today's weigh in. I have noticed it has slowed WAY DOWN over the last month or so. I know this is normal the closer you get to your goal weight and I am perfectly ok with that.

I also switched to TDEE -20%. Around the same time I did this, stress with school and dealing with a deployed husband, busy kids with sports has limited the amount of time I have been able to get to the gym. I was going Monday-Friday and now I am lucky if I can get there twice a week. I have tried to wake up at 4am to go while my teenager is still asleep, to get home just before she leaves for the bus, but I am up personally doing homework or studying until 11 so it just doesn't work out well.

My question is, since I have been struggling these last few weeks to get frequent workouts in, will TDEE-20% still work for me, or should I go back to maybe eating at BMR? I just want reassurance that I am in fact still doing this right.

thank you.

There's a post exactly like this one a couple lines down, maybe you can get some tips there: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10012366/so-this-tdee-20-does-it-work#latest

TDEE - 20% will work, but a couple of weeks isn't long enough.

If you think this is going to last another couple of weeks, maybe recalculate your TDEE with less activity, then do the 20% method. Or just eat a little under your goal now, if you're missing out on a few burns you'd normally get.

Long enough for what? To make a difference in her activity level?

I understand that. I just wanted to be sure it was something I could even do, with my stress level and very few workouts.

I am definitely missing out on burns. These last few weeks have just been a overall killer for me. So while I am still weighing my food and knowing everything I eat and drink, I haven't been very active.

Changes to your activity level or eating habits have a tendency to cause little water weight stalls for a week or two. That's why it's usually a good idea to give any changes to your routine a few weeks before determining whether or not they're working.

Right...So I should stop freaking out about my own TDEE method problems too. Makes me feel better.

Pretty much this, PLUS the stress part *raising hand (QUEEN OF), causes us to retain even more water and sometimes its just kind of a catch 22-thus patience.

Yeah. My stomach is totally distended right now too (no clue why), so I'm stressed about that and then I start thinking oh this method is not working, but really I haven't been trying it for that long.
