Help!! Losing cms but not lbs

HI,
I have been with a personal trainer now for 3 weeks - twice a week & boot camp on a sat morning. REALLY careful to stay in my limits with food, and although I've lost 4cms (not sure if that's good or crap) my weight loss has been a measly 3.5lbs. My trainer says I'm building muscle so its bound to weigh, and I was pretty much starving myself before I started with him (1 cuppa soup all day & then dinner) so my metabolism needs to get used to me eating healthily again. I have read so much conflicting info on the net - can anyone tell me if it has happened to them? and if so - does it end up in weight loss too??

This. Also if your trainer is telling you that you are gaining muscle in a caloric deficit, I'd honestly switch trainers lol. Because.. that's very wrong.
But if you have just increased your calories, it does take time to adjust. I am in maintenance this week (diet break) and I gained 2 lbs of water weight in 1 day. So water weight, more food in your digestive system, and water weight from exercise too will all affect scale weight.

Your ticker says you have 34 pounds to lose, so a pound per week is what you should be aiming for. 10kg in 12 weeks is going to be closer to 2 pounds per week and will run the risk of you losing more LBM (and no, you are not building muscle in a calorie deficit).0 -
Thanks all!! maybe I should just looker at the bigger picture and be a bit more patient..a loss is still a loss after all0

I have been pretty much the same weight for the last 20 years - losing a few kilos here and there. But my ideal weight for my BMI is around 34lbs lower than I am now.

he's basically just trying to say that you don't gain overnight, so you won't lose overnight. So patience really is key0 -

Happens to everyone... We tend to forget how long it took for us to put it on.
