Hey everybody,

I am 23 and recovering from an eating disorder. I have suffered form bulimia with short periods of anorexia since I was 16, and right now is actually my first successful attempt to get back to eating normally. Funny enough, I have never tried counting calories before, and it really seems to be working!

I have been on MyFitnessPal for a couple of month now, but today I thought it would be great to find some friends here with similar stories for mutual support and motivation. I think I can also offer some help because I have been pretty succesful so far, haven't had a single slip yet and haven't gained any weight either.

So feel free to add or message me if you feel like we have something in common and want to chat! ;)

I worked at an eating disorder for awhile. I don't have one or may i had binge eating disorder. Anyway i'm over it because i'm eating properly now.

I am happy to give you support if you need it when you need it.

Counting calories is good for a while and useful if you've never done, but after a while most people get tired of it. By that stage, hopefully you will have a better idea of how much to eat without worrying so much about it. I have recently stopped counting. Now i just log my food every day and weigh daily.

Also count your fibre. High fibre foods such as fruit and vegetables legumes and lentils are extremely health and the more you eat of this type of food instead of white carbs the easier it is to lose weight.

Also fruit is excellent for us sweet tooth types. I quit sugar earlier this year and sugar is the first key reason why it is working.

Hi Patttience, thanks for your reply! Glad to hear that you managed to get over your disorder. How long have you been counting calories before you felt like you are ready to stop?
I think the main thing in the beginning is to get back the healthy feeling of hunger which can be satisfied and which tells you when you've eaten enough. That's something that I am still lacking, so counting calories really helps.
