Water Retention and Surgery

Hello, MFPers!
I had surgery on Tuesday and gained six pounds overnight...has this ever happened to any of you? I can only assume that it is water weight and will work itself out eventually, but it was a bit shocking to see the numbers on the scale. Any input is greatly appreciated!

Usually prior to surgery (everyone I've had), they give you an IV. It's totally normal to retain fluid after this.0

Agreed, IV fluids can cause water retention. You'll most likely pee a LOT the next few days and that'll come off no problem.0
