I love my rice cooker and use it almost every day but I've heard you can make so much more in it. Anyone have any good rice cooker recipes?

a few Christmas's ago I got my mom a rice cooker cook book. I remember flipping through it and seeing recipes for beans, chilis, soups and some other stuff. quick amazon search came up with this one, which may have been the one I got her.

My rice cooker came with an insert so I can steam foods too. I'll sometimes steam veggies while I cook my rice.

For breakfast, overnight steel cut oats. 1 cup oats to 3 cups of water/milk. Add in some salt, or even dried fruit works beautifully, and choose the "porridge" setting, thereafter the "keep warm" one. You can even roast a whole chicken in your rice cooker. Put all your aromatics in, like sliced garlic, onions, ginger, et cetera at the base of your cooker. Coat your chicken with a fat of your choice like olive oil, and season simply with salt and pepper, and place on top of your aromatics. Then simply set your cooker to cook. For a crispier skin, set the chicken in for longer. Of course, each cooker's timings and settings will differ greatly. For a hearty congee, combine 1 cup of long-grain rice to 8 cups of water or stock. Add in fish/oyster sauce, soy sauce, scallions, ginger, garlic, salt and pepper to taste. Add in thin slices of chicken, firm tofu and tomatoes. Set your rice cooker to cook, and leave it for around 45 minutes to an hour, stirring occasionally. Add more water or stock as needed, although 1:8 is a pretty good ratio. Once the rice becomes less "grainy" it's ready to serve. My mum always made this for us when we were sick, but she used fish as her protein of choice instead. If you're using seafood, add the meat in towards the end, with around 10 minutes to go.
