Question About High-Carb Breakfasts for Runners

Every morning (with the exception of Sundays) I wake up at 7 AM, get dressed, put in my contacts, and eat breakfast before I do a 5 minute cardio warm-up (1 min. jumping jacks, 1 min. buttkicks, 1 min. high-knees, 1 min. jump rope, 1 min. jumping jacks) then go on my run. I haven't tried, but I'm almost positive I wouldn't last a minute running if I didn't have any food in my stomach (low blood sugar is a shared trait between my mother and I). I usually eat a bowl of oatmeal or a multi-grain bagel with fruit. After some research, I found out that having carbs before a run greatly improves your performance, which has proven to be true to me.
So my questions are --
1. Is what I'm doing OK?
2. Is there anything you could tell me I need to improve on?
3. Is it true that you're not supposed to eat protein, dairy, or fiber before a run?
4. Should I have a "recovery snack" afterwards that consists of protein?
5. What are some other high-carb breakfast recipes?

As long as you feel okay after eating breakfast and moving on to running, you should be fine. What you described as your warm up sounds reasonable to me.
Too much fiber really shouldn't be eaten before a run; because of obvious reasons. As for the others.. Test them out. It really depends on the person whether or not they feel okay with those foods in their stomach when they're out for a run.
How long do you run? Your snack greatly depends on that distance. If it's under 5 miles, I wouldn't worry about it. If it's over.. I recommend a protein bar or something similar.0
