calories in certain things; cold showers

so. calories in toothpaste? I am worried that I accidentally swallow some, and the calories are concerning me a little.
and -- is it worth having cold baths and showers so that I burn more calories when heating my body back up?

cheers!

If you swallow more toothpaste, it's actually a great source of roughage. I recommend that. Also, the colder shower, the better. You should probably wait until a lake freezes over and then only bathe in that. Breaking through the ice with a pick with just burn more calories!

    :)

nope- if I just take a super hot shower- I start sweating immediately- which is obviously the answer more sweat = more calories burned.

More importantly, if you take a hot shower, you might get some hot water in your mouth. A calorie is a measure of heat, so hot water is pure calories and will definitely make you fat.

And cold water actually slows your metabolism down. What do walruses, penguins, and seals have in common? They all live in cold water and they are all fat.

    I agree with this logic.

It wouldn't matter if it made me burn 1000 extra calories per day, I could not be convinced to take cold showers.

OP I think you're overthinking this. There's a certain amount of margin of error anyway, and accidentally swallowed toothpaste is part of that. Anything I've ever seen claiming more calories burned from being hot or cold (or eating hot, cold, or spicy foods) have had the numbers so low as to be negligible.

Yeah!! I remember seeing a magazine article to help lose weight once upon a time... it said the best way to lose weight was eating spicy food cuz it would be too spicy (among other reasons) and you would eat less of the spicy food you'd prepare. I thought it was the stupidest thing ever cuz hello? I'm Latina and i live for spicy foods!! That's not gonna make me eat less!!

    Silly article...

On another note, cold showers wake me up more than a bump of coke and a headbutt from a mountain goat would.

What about all 3 at the same time? Doing a bump of coke off a goats horns as he headbutts you in the cold shower - now that's a way to start the day!
