Any students out there?!

Hey I have just started university and was wondering if there are any students out there with any tips. The flat I live in has no support for what I'm doing so I am really in need of some friends. I am in a flat with very physically fit (not a fan of the word skinny) people who can eat everything I cant and criticise me if I have an unhealthy meal/takeaway with them.
I'm always around to give people a quick boot up the bum if they start to wobble so send me a friend request and lets get started!

Hey! Same position as you, just moved into uni and at least for me I have managed to continue to loose weight. Ive somehow managed to loose around 2 stone or so since I moved into accommodation, but it is significantly harder! Alcohol is certainly the most difficult one as it is so calorie dense. Oh and one thing I saw you typed that you might want to correct.
"very physically fit (not a fan of the word skinny) people who can eat everything"
Although it may seem like it, unless they're all doing very physically strenuous activity or are significantly taller than you they probably are not eating as much as you think they are. If they ate anything they wanted they would put on weight, it just seems like they can eat all they want because when they get a takeaway that's probably their only major meal that day, so from an external viewer, it seems like they're eating a whole breakfast, lunch and then a takeaway. When infact they're probably having a small breakfast and a light/no lunch and then having a takeaway!
One thing i've found has helped is doing my shopping online. Then I know not to buy any food while im out and only use what I get delivered. I also set myself a budget of £35 a month which really only allows me to buy ingredients rather than unhealthy options.0 -
oh my gosh that is incredible! Well done. I fell into the deep hole of I can eat what I want when I want and the weight has piled on. I am very ready to start getting rid of this weight!

Yeah. I share quite different view from many people on this site. And for me is has worked and it may for you. People seem to make a mountain out of a molehill when it comes to losing weight. People build it up to being this huge "journey" for them. Now for someone loosing 100+lbs maybe it is but for most people there is no need to build it up the way they do. They just end up intimidating themselves and that doesn't help in any way. I recommend just viewing it as just a thing you're doing. Yeah, you're losing weight, but you're doing a million other things aswell. Do not let it overtake your life. Once you get in this kind of mindset of eating healthy is just a thing you do, it becomes a MILLION times easier.0

To add to what I've already said. You're at uni. There WILL be days where you have a bad day, you haven't failed or anything, its just something that's happened. In the last 2 weeks I've had a few days where i've eaten around 2000-2500 calories, and one day where I ate over 3000. Now if I did they every day I would pile on the lbs, but as long as you're sticking to a calorie deficit for the majority of time time, and your weekly average is below your BMR you're going to lose weight.0

I am one of those people who becomes intimidated by what I'm trying to do so I just stop. Not this time thought. Reading your posts I already feel a million times better because you have done it which means that I can too
thank you

Oh yeah, I know people hear it all the time but if I can somehow manage to do it ANYONE can do it. Just got to keep things in perspective and not let it overtake your life. Oh and one more thing, do not weigh yourself every day. During the first few days of a new lifestyle and change in food you can drop upto 5lbs or so, the majority of this will be water weight. The following few days your weight can then fluctuate quite a bit due to water being stored in different amounts. You need to trust the laws of physics. Anyone who says anything different is factually wrong. It all about Calories in vs Calories out. Hell, if you look at my diet for the last week or so, I will normally have a healthy breakfast and lunch and then while im studying in the evening have 2 galaxy bars and a bottle of coke. But aslong as you're staying under a certain number of calories (for me its 1500 per day) you will be fine.0
