Rude to Give Clothes?

I take all the clothes!! It saves me money. Whatever I don't like or doesn't fit then I pass it on to another person as well.0

I always ask the person I intend to give my hand me downs to if they would like them. I just did this today. My SIL only took two of the shirts and I took the rest to Goodwill.0

I freakin' LOVE hand-me-downs!!!0

I get gifts of clothes after someone loses weight and don't fit in them anymore. They are from a relative. I think it is nice. I wish I didn't fit in them, but I do. I rarely buy clothes for myself so it is nice to have something different.0

i love hand me downs, it doesn't matter the reason why. i even accepted a bunch of bras from a coworker/friend since she had a breast reduction and didn't need them anymore and knew i wore the same brand / size.0

You could announce on facebook that the shirts are free for the taking, and say what size they are. If people want them, they'll answer.0

I guess it depends on your approach. I personally love hand me downs and gladly take them.0

One of my favorite skirts was passed on to me from a friend. She just said that the skirt "didn't work for her" and didn't explain. I was a happy recipient. If someone did emphasize why, I might be miffed, but I'd still wear the clothes if they were nice0

What's wrong with being honest, and saying they don't fit you anymore? If they want them they'll take them, and if not, donate them to a thrift store or whatever. That's what I did.0

If my sister in law gave me clothes I'd be fine with that, and wouldn't think anything bad about it, I'd probably be thankful, or if they didn't fit or whatever, I'd pass them on to someone else or the charity shop. My family tend to pass clothes and household stuff around from person to person anyway, so maybe it depends on what your family's like.0

I would love it if I were small enough to fit in my SIL's clothes!
In general, I am all about hand-me-downs...I keep what I like/want, and pass the rest along. However, if I had a strained relationship with the person doing the giving, it might be awkward or even offensive depending on the situation.0 -
Love hand-me-downs. I've gotten them while I'm losing weight (which is the BEST) but also when I'm not losing weight but someone else has. The giver never means anything bad by them AT ALL; they just want someone to get some use out of them, and thought of you.0

Nope. I love clothes, and I can always cut them up for sewing projects, if they aren't so flattering on me.0

Just curious what you would think if someone gave you some nice work blouses that were too big for them (without emphasizing that was the reason why). Also, would it make a difference if it was your sister-in-law?
It depends. If you're thinking, "Nya, nya, nya, fat sister in law!" she's probably gonna know it.
If you announce, "Hey, I have some size <foo> clothing that I don't need any more, who wants first dibs?" That's probably not a problem.

Honestly i take whatever, usually people who give me shoes, jackets and clothing already knows my style of dress, so always pleased but i will take whatever, i am not too good.0
