Help! A strained groin from deep squats? Advice please!

Damn, I did it. I have been doing really well with weight training-- and currently working with a personal trainer to ensure I am using proper form, etc. Still, that didn't keep me from straining myself. I think I went a little too heavy on my deep squats and I've got a strain in my left groin muscle/adductor. I still have mobility and I have been able to run after warming it up a bit (stiff and a bit sore at the start).

I'm curious to know if anyone else has suffered this injury? How did you treat it? Were you able to train and/or run through it or did you need to rest? How long until it was better? [FYI, I am in my 40's.]

I will obviously stay away from the squats for now. But I really want to continue my running as I am training for a 10K in July-- and it's just such a great stress reliever.

I appreciate any advice to help me get through this as smartly as possible. I want to stay in the game! Thanks!
