power walking and sore muscles

Options
I walk 3-6 miles a day. I just started back after having to stop for a few months (had abdominal surgery, I'm cleared to walk this much). My legs are not used to it and are sore. No joint pain, just feels tight, hard to sit, but no actual pain when i'm walking. Should I continue my daily walks? My gut says yes. Just throw in some extra stretching... Thoughts?

Yes. The walking will actually be good for the sore muscles.

Perhaps dial back the speed/intensity a bit for the first half mile or so until you loosen up.

I would keep walking. You might want to invest in a foam roller to help relieve some of the soreness.

a foam roller is on my x-mas list as well as a heart rate monitor and adjustable weights.

It sounds like it's just some "I'm being used more than I'm accustomed to" muscle soreness. As long as the pain isn't coming from your surgery site, I'd think you're good to press on.
