Microwave potato chips

I tried the potato chip recipe and was amazed that I got a good result. Seeing as I didn't have parchment paper at home, I used the following variation.
Scrub a potato and slice thinly in a food processor. Lightly spray a large plate with olive oil. Lay the potato slices, with a slight overlap. The slight overlap makes them easier to unstick later. Lightly salt. Microwave at full blast for 2 minutes. With a fork, dislodge the chips to prevent them from sticking to the plate. Blast for another 2 minutes. Again dislodge with the help of a fork. By this time they should be dry enough to simply toss. Zap another two minutes and toss with the fork. If some of the chips have turned golden brown they are done. If not, zap for another minute or two. They continue to crisp up as they cool.

Since getting some parchment paper, can vouch for the technique used in the original link. I'm amazed at the great result. Why is this not common knowledge?0
