Hello everyone!
I'm just a college kid looking for some inspiration to loose weight. I currently weigh more than 300 lb. as it shows in my picture and at my height of 6'1'' that is morbid obesity. I hoping to tackle this problem and loose 110 lb. within a year and half or whenever I get there it doesn't really matter I just want to loose the weight. I have tried everything that is out there. I've tried my fitness pal before ,but I wasn't persistent with it. However, now it was recommended by my doctor and I do want to feel healthy again. I also work out on campus here doing the high intensity training for 45mins-hour, but for now i'm trying to get use to eating less calories considering my consumption was about 4,000 calories a day!

The best inspiration is that you are so young! You have your whole life ahead of you and you have a chance to live it in a healthy body! MFP is perfect for you on your eating plan. Maybe you can get the cafeteria to help you get nutritional info on the foods they prepare. Make it a new game to be able to track everything.
Good luck. Get some friends on here, open your diary and become accountable to them to meet your food and exercise goals. And make sure you've read all the posts recommended in the Getting Started section.

Figure out if your school is a "Chartwells", Aramark, or one of the other dining services providers. It will help you find foods in the database easier.0

You're going to have to make some smart choices in the cafeteria & keep some food in your dorm that will work with your new eating plan. My daughter's college has a salad restaurant "The Wedge" that has pretty healthy meals as long as you don't pile on fattening dressing or other toppings. You can also ask the cafeteria ladies to give you portions of the meat entrée without sauce & load up on vegetables. She has liked having fruit (limited so it doesn't go bad), protein bars/shakes, soup, oatmeal in her dorm.
I know it's hard. My daughter put on some weight her Freshman year. If your plan is mostly cafeteria food it's hard not to overeat knowing the cafeteria will be closed later, especially if you're in class during the next round of meals.
It will take some planning, but you can do this!0 -
Thank you for all the replies!
My school does go through a service provider called sodexo and it's all in the myfitnesspal database. They also post all the dietary information everywhere there is a self serve bar.
I am a little worried though, how do you get over the hump? What I mean is there's a point where you lose a lot of weight and you feel excited then it begins to slow down and the motivation to keep going on with the program diminishes sort of like a hump in your dietary goal. Right now I'm on day 6 and I've lost a lot of weight already(I'm guessing it's water weight and access minerals) but I'm worried about when it slows down and how to stay motivated.0 -
I gained most of my weight eating Sodexo at WWU. I would love to be able to go back and slap myself.0

When the weight loss slows down, and it will (I am down from 185 to 176 on my way to 165) I suggest putting on your old, loose clothes. Really put them on and look in a mirror, and/or look at your before photos. Ask yourself if you want to look like that again.0
