For a deadlift, do you start every lift from the floor? Or just the start of the set? I looked at different sites, such as SL5x5 and some others on youtube, and there seems to be inconsistency in how to do it. I just want to make sure I'm doing them properly.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Yes, pick it up, put it down = 1 rep0

If you're doing a traditional deadlift, it should clink on the floor before you bring the bar back up.0

With Romanian Deadlifts, you don't start from the floor each time. Conventional, including sumos, you start from the floor each time.0

Depends on the type of deadlift. Traditional deadlifts yes. Romanian and American, no, it goes just below the knees. For SL 5x5 it is the traditional and to the floor as far as I know0

Dead means dead.0

Deadlifts should also be from a deadstop, not touch and go.0

From the floor...
- Conventional DL
- Sumo DL
- Straight-legged DL
From the hang...
- Romanian DL
There are many forms of DL's but those are the most common.0 -

I release my grip once I set it down and then regrip the bar before I lift again. That way you know its down and you release a little pressure on your palms.0
