Approaching negativity

A bit of a follow up to a previous post.

I think I've found a solution. Offering a solution or my two cents never seems to help. Sometimes it just fuels the fire, giving the negative person even more to be negative about!

Case in point - Friend who just can't seem to catch a break no matter what (sigh). Those last 10 lb won't come off. It's not her fault, she can't afford the gym. That's because her job doesn't pay enough (of course, should have known). Overworked to the max, so she simply cannot cook (jeez, what was I thinking giving her some quick and healthy meal suggestions?).

For example, the healthy meal suggestion was met with the following - well I don't have time to cook and I don't have money for those kinds of things and it's not like my husband will help me cook and how am I supposed to cook when I'm so exhausted?

Therefore, my solution is simple.

When I am presented with someone else's problem, I shall simply reply - "Yeah, that's crappy."

I'll save my suggestions for someone who actually cares.

:)
