I started my diet back on January 3, 2013 . I joined mfp to track my food progress late in January. I've been a care giver for my mother for the last 5 years. If anyone has done this for a loved one you kinda lose yourself in the craziness. all the sudden your 265. To this day almost 5 month later I have lost 47 pounds so far. I did it old school. diet, exercise( I walk two times a day 4.5 mph to 5.mph total miles a day 5.5). I started walking very slowly and worked my way up. something that has helped me to keep accurate calorie burns in my walks I got a watch that shows me the correct burns during walking. It showed me that almost every walk had a different calorie burn. when you add it weekly ( I walk 6 days a week) it can really be off if I just used the formula. A little tip walk closer to 11 am or mid afternoon I seem to burn more calories compared to going early in the morning.

Yesterday I quit smoking . I told myself If I can Lose weight I can quit smoking. This might be a a two edged sword , but I know I can accomplish other things beside losing weight My goal weight is 196.5.

    You are doing great! Keep it up. I know quitting smoking is hard, but you can do it.

    Good luck. Other than walking what was your calorie intake daily? Did you do any additional exercise routines?
