Overcoming Emotional Eating

So I've only been on my weight loss journey for a few months, but I'm really starting to create good, healthy habits and I'm seeing slow, steady weight loss.

However, since I stopped eating my emotions (which I've came to realise I was doing, big time) I am so sensitive! Everything just builds up and I cry or get annoyed at little things... instead of "treating myself" with a huge meal or dessert or junk food.

I hope this is a normal, transitional response and that I'll toughen up again soon... but it just shows how much I was bottling up, or what I was using food to cover! Actually working through my feelings again is pretty difficult.

    Hi Gem,

Your on the right path, as you have said eating was you way of dealing with things!

Its going to take a little time to adjust, and just remember what you are doing this for, YOU!!!!!!

I bottle up things, I think I can deal with everything myself, but thats not alway true. As they say a problem shared is a problem halved and this is so true. I try now to share things or I go to the gym and thrash it out or both. Sometimes a coffee and a chat is as good as any desert or junk food.

I hope it all goes well for you.

It's hard to sit with uncomfortable emotions. When I was a teenager. I had "friends" who labeled me Miss Sob because I cried easily and it was traumatizing. Now I cry whenever I feel like it. My best experience is when I cry at the end of a run. It's such a release.
