blew threw today's calories by lunch - what now?

had a lapse in motivation. ate what i felt like for lunch without measuring or adding the calories. then got mad at myself, did my best to estimate the calories, and realized i'd already eaten my daily calorie allowance. i think it's unrealistic to fast for the rest of the day (well, for me, anyway...i'm sure some of you could do it). But how many additional calories would you allow yourself in this situation (my daily goal is 1350; I'm at 1357)? How would you stay positive, knowing today is already a 'fail'?

Today isn't a fail--it sounds like you learned something. You won't always be precisely within your calorie limit. If it were me, I would eat a healthy dinner similar to what I normally eat. To me, making an appropriate choice at the following meal is getting back on track. You can't take back lunch. Don't beat yourself up, eat a healthy dinner, and try to stay within your calories tomorrow.0

Even with a 500 calorie dinner, it is likely you are still in a calorie deficit or at your non-exercise maintenance...you have to remember that your calorie goal is a deficit from maintenance...so going over isn't the end of the world. Also, go do a little exercise...when you workout you get to eat more.

Learn from today and plan to eat better in the future. As for tonight, eat a decent healthy meal, or a normal meal. Just know one day over isn't a big deal, I've lost over 50 pounds and don't stay under every day, I stay under MOST days, as long as it evens out under you are good.0

seriously, don't worry. Just go on your merry way and try not to do it again for a while. we all mess up. And really it's not even a mess up. Sometimes we just eat more you know?0
