This is terrifying... I didn't realize how dangerous it was for the child. If I ever decide to have children, I will do my best to stay in top shape!

I was one of the lucky obese women to have a smooth pregnancy up to the delivery in which I did have to have a csection because of labor not progressing. Although my son was perfectly healthy when born I really want to be in tip top health before my next child because csection isn't fun no matter which way you swing it. Would love to have a VBAC with my next.

Because we are a military family I had to go to several hospitals throughout my pregnancy for prenatal care and I must say, I was never once treated with ill manners because of my weight. I do however remember seeing on my records, "OBESE" in red ink all over the place on several charts and it made me cringe but it was true, and the truth hurts :(.

Thank you for posting this. The only reason I've been able to sick with my weight loss this time around is because I want a healthy pregnancy and baby.

What an intense article. I agree that the judgement of what is obese has changed. Even though this article is hard to swollow I still find it hard to relate. I am very overweight but I do not live an obese life.... or at least it doesn't seem that way to me. Unless I am looking in a mirror I do not see the fat/obese women that I am. This is a blessing because it helps me from getting despressed but it is bad because I don't make the choices I should because I don't feel I am that girl....
