where to start at I'm so lost

Hello I've been a vegetarian for over 5 years and I'm about to start adding fish and turkey and chicken so I can try loosing weight. what's is the best plan food diet out their to start off with I'm so lost and really need help on how to start.

    Out of curiosity, why do you feel you need to add fish, turkey and chicken to lose weight?

    Animal based protein does not cause you to lose weight, hormones help you to lose weight. I would assume that your vegetarian diet consists more of processed non-meat based foods and less of fiber based foods. If you incorporate more fiber into your diet, you will find not only faster results, but you will not be hungry as often. Satiety levels will naturally increase, fiber will improve hormonal function, including metabolism, causing natural fat loss.

    It is more about eating the right foods, and more of it. Incorporating animal based proteins into your diet for weight loss will probably lead to worse, not better, results if the rest of your diet remains the same.

    There is no specific diet plan that you need to follow. Its basic CICO (calories in vs calories out). Just eat in a calorie deficit and you will lose weight.

    Eating higher protein & lower carbs leads to more weight loss.

    Try 45% carbs, 20% fat, 35% protein.
    That's within the healthy range for each macro, but on the high end for protein & the low end for the others.

    It's hard to manage higher protein / lower carbs without eating meats, because while beans & lentils have decent protein, they have high carbs. Nuts have decent protein, but high fat. Fish, chicken, some cuts of pig & some cuts of cow are all lean.

    The only thing necessary to weight loss, is a caloric deficit.
  • Thanks for all your help.But where do I start first, like what is best for breakfast and by the way I don't eat eggs.How about lunch n dinner any websites for a food.

    breakfast for me is porridge or greek yogurt with granola and fruit. Lunch you could make a nice stir fry using coconut oil add noodles if you want or rice and sauces or bit soy and dinner a vegetable stew, tagine, salad, risotto, the possibilities are endless or mousakka use spinach and top with pine nuts for protein etc I was veggie yrs ago and literally it was boring so much decent veggie foods out there I still love veggie sausage casserole with sweet potato mash and onion gravy

    You should start simply by trying to reach your calorie target consistently over time.

    Fill it with the food you like but you may find that things like fibrous / leafy vegetables and lean protein sources like turkey and chicken help keep you fuller for less calories.

    Tweak as you go.

    This doesn't have to be difficult.
