Scared to step on the scales!

I just had a mini break to the UAE, and while I was there, for just 4 days, sorta pigged out. I wasn't eating every second of the day, I just ate big portions at restaurants and scoffed myself with food at the breakfast buffet.
I basically feel super fat now that I'm home and am praying I didn't gain any weight. Will I have gained permanent weight?
And also, if I keep to regular exercise (treadmill 6 days a week for 30 mins) and within my calorie goal - do you think it'll be alright?
I feel kinda depressed and annoyed about this, I should have controlled myself better.
Thank you for your time :)

I understand your concern, but what else can you do? You had a fun little break & enjoyed yourself. Just get back on the wagon & if you don't want to weigh don't weigh. Just don't kid yourself that you can stop logging & exercising.

I have been avoiding the scale for a few weeks now. It wasn't moving, but my clothes were getting looser so I decided I was not going to be a slave to a number.

You probably did a water gain. Don't weigh yourself. Just keep going.

I would wait a few days to weigh in. Stay in your calorie goal and drink lots of water. (What do you think about 4 or 5 days of using the treadmill for 45 minutes? I just think you could get a little more out of it going for longer periods.)

    No weight is permanent :)

Don't be afraid of the scale - it's just a tool and it doesn't change who you are.

Don't worry about it, wait a few days before stepping on the scales if you want to. I recently went on holiday, I ate lots more than I have been and gained 3lbs...but...the minute I got back to my normal routine those pounds dropped off again - if anything it has helped me to lose more weight as I seem to have lost more consistently since before I went away. Don't feel guilty about enjoying yourself, you deserve it! And it probably is water weight if you have gained, don't give up :)

Thank you, these helped a lot :) and yes I soon want to get up to an hour 3 x a week but simply am not fit enough yet :) I'm slowly building up, though.

Permanent weight = organs, bones, tissue weight... any gains from overeating will not be temporary. Get on the scale, see where you are and then do what you did to lose it the first time!

I went to Mexico back in September. I had 3 days of pigging out. Like dessert with each meal and lots of alcohol pigging out. I weighed in the day after I returned and had gained 4 pounds from the previous week. Going back to my normal routine, using MFP and exercising I lost the weight in one week....

I recently went on holiday for 3 weeks and gained about 10lbs! Thinking most of it was carb and alcohol bloat, I expected most of it to come off fairly quickly once back in a normal routine. It didn't, and still hasn't, 5 weeks later, I'm up another lb.

It really depends on how you treat the scales. I would rather know where I am with it and much as I dread the scales every morning, seeing the number means I know where I am and what I need to do. But some are more motivated by not weighing and doing the work first. There is no right and wrong answer, it all depends on what you think works best for you....

Weight loss is about a reality check. Just get on the scales and face the facts or otherwise you will just always probably crawl away from the situation which just wont help.
