Illness and water weight

Does anybody know if there is a relationship between water retention and illness? I have had a fever and been ill for three days now (at doctor now, actually), but have been eating and logging exactly the same as I have for the last two months. I weighed this morning and the scale didn't even move a pound! I am not fretting too much, but it is kind of annoying to not see a physical representation of your hard work at the end of the week. Just wondering if anybody knows if a relationship between the two exists. Seems plausible, your body holds on to water to repair damages muscles, why not hold on to fight illness? Dr Google didn't tell me much.

You're looking at too short of a time period to draw any conclusions about anything. But if it makes you feel better, just tell yourself you're retaining water.0

I suppose I should mention that I only weigh once a week and eat at a 1,000 calorie a day deficit. I have consistently been losing 2+ pounds a week, but the scale barely moved this week... I am not stressing out about it, I am just wondering if there is an actual scientific relationship between illness and water rentention or not.0

If your illness is causing you to become hydrated then yes your body will hold onto water weight.0
