How do calorie deficiencies work?

I'm 5'10 and 123lbs and i was confused how it all works. If you have a calorie deficiency do you need to work out everyday? I usually stand around 6hrs a day and walk around at least a few hours, plus house work.i did a TDEE test calculated as working out 4 days a week and it says my TDEE is 1999 and my BMR is 1409. So what would i need to eat to lose weight? I can't workout everyday due to time so I'm a it confused. On here it says i should eat 1240 calories a day but i eat maybe 500 (all drinks). I was just wondering if I ate more if it would help with the weight loss.

Stupid question time... if you're 5 ft 10 and 123 lbs, why are you trying to lose weight?

Put your weight and goal weight loss into MFP and it will tell you how many calories to eat every day. It will ask your exercise goals, but that doesn't calculate into your daily calories. If it tells you to eat 1450 calories a day, and you do it, you will meet your goal.

I've been on for 46 days, and have lost 11 pounds just by keeping my calories at or just below my daily calorie limit. I haven't added any exercise.

Oh, and if you are only eating 500 calories a day, you are starving yourself. You'll lose weight but your body will hate every minute of it.

Eat the number MFP tells you to eat. It'll be slow but it'll be fulling and sustainable.

Agreed. I would feel like I am giving someone advice that could harm themselves if you are trying to lose weight with those numbers.

What is your end goal? Lower weight? More muscles showing through?

    Do you lift heavy?

A calorie deficit is when you eat less than your TDEE. You should not be eating 500 calories. You are clearly anorexic. Do you have no regard for your health whatsoever?

Your BMR is what you need to eat for proper functioning of your body as a minimum!!! Eating less has physiological side effects and consequences. Not all of them visible in the short term. for instance by the time you are 40, if you keep on this way, you will have osteoporosis.

Another long term side effect is infertility.

I think you need to do a little bit more research into diet and nutrition and anorexia.

Of course it can also kill you. Usually by heart attack. Eating such low calories puts a great deal of stress on the body.

You need protein for muscle growth and tissue repair
Fat for brain function and other fairly subtle functions.
carbohydrate for energy. Fat is also used for energy but only when there aren't sufficient carbs available.
You need vitamins for all sorts of functions and ditto minerals.

You currently have nothing to be too proud of about your skinniness. You may look good and rest assured we probably all envy you that but i am thankful not to have the health problems you are going to have as much as i am thankful i haven't got diabetes or diseases related to obesity.

Look up your healthy weight range. At the very least try to get to the bottom of that range. And if you don't like fat, then at least keep yourself toned with exercise because it makes people look better. Its the muscle tone that makes people look great when they are thin.

I really hope you're joking... You should DEFINITELY be eating more than 500 per day... And eating REAL food, not just drinks.

I'm confused as to how you are confused. You've lost 70 something pounds already, so it sounds like you know how to lose weight. If you're 5'10" and 123 you definitely don't need to lose weight. What's your goal? Muscle? Decreasing body fat percentage?

Maybe it was a typo and you're 5'0" or 5'1"??

I certainly hope so because with those stats the OP is already underweight

If you're using the number pad, they are right next to each other.

The fact that the OP hasn't reappeared in this thread tells me something already. Either she has an ED or she is a troll. Either way, ABANDON THREAD!

Obviously i do suffer from an eating disorder. I want to get more toned though.

You need to do strength training or body weight resistance training. And you need to eat more, or else your body will use your lean body mass (muscles) for energy because you aren't feeding it enough. Lean body mass also includes everything else that is not fat, like bones, and organs. Does it make any sense at all to make your muscles deteriorate if your goal is to make them more firm? Eat for your goals. Bones, muscles and organs are important, you know, to live. So take care of them by eating properly.

I strongly urge you to get professional help.
