Am I eating too little?

For the past few months I have been eating between 1400-1700 calories daily in addition to allowing myself one day where I have a high calorie ("cheat") day. I have been having a steady 2 pound a week weight loss doing this and am happy with the results I have been seeing.

However, now that I am getting closer to my goal weight I am concerned that I may not be eating enough and this rate of weight loss will have damaging effects long term.

I am a 23 year old male, 5'10, 159 pounds. I don't do a lot of intentional exercise, apart from sporadic walking/jogging, but I do have a job where I am on my feet most of the day and constantly moving, so I consider myself lightly active.

Just curious if my current calorie range is enough or if I should considering upping it an.d if so how much more should I be consuming.

Thank you in advance!!

Ya, you should be eating at least 1800 a day. Add me if you need support.

Two pounds per week at that weight is too aggressive. Your intake is too low. Your maintenance level is over 2100 calories per day which indicates you are either off in your logging or underestimating what you expend resulting in a greater deficit than you think ... two pounds of fat per week is a 1000 calorie per day deficit.

For a male your age, yes.

I think you could probably up your calories a bit if you're closer to your goal, perhaps set your calorie goals to 1 pound a week loss, or even .5. Why starve?

Hmmmm....you reference a "cheat" day so I'm assuming you're hungry eating this way? (Unless by "cheat" you mean not meet your macros and eat junk food, etc.)

Given that, yes, I think you can go ahead and up your calories a hair. Why not? You know you're able to lose, so that's not a problem; you are obviously nowhere near heavy enough to be unhealthy based on that, and you probably want at this point to start experimenting with something closer to maintenance (IMO).

I'd reset my goals for 1 lb. a week, personally. Ultimately, though, it's up to you.
